Happy Thanksgiving from CREyourway

Paper-Cup-Turkey-photo-350x255-AFormaro-047_rdax_65REALTORS put families around the Thanksgiving table every year

It is such a privilege being a REALTOR. We help families imagine the kind of home they wish to live in and we help them find it. Or, we help families sell a home that is no longer useful for them. Either way, helping people with their dreams and knowing that they will be sharing a Thanksgiving meal at home in part because of the work we do is a real reason to give thanks. For us and for the families we have helped get settled in and around the Poconos this past year, we have much to be thankful for.

Many of our CRE agents have kids and grandkids and in fact, all of us have worked with families with kids who are in the midst of buying or selling a home. Lots of activity surrounds the buying and selling process, especially during the hectic holidays. But it gets done and of course, everyone is thankful. So after all the work is done, it’s time to have fun and relax.

Check out this web site we found – it lists activities, recipes, family ideas, crafts and so much more. You are sure to find something to do from this site while the turkey is roastingThanksgiving-703525

Thanksgiving is the favorite American holiday. I love it as do all my colleagues in Commonwealth Real Estate Your Way’s Mt. Pocono and Stroudsburg offices do.

How much? We asked everyone what they were thankful for this year and here’s what they had to say:

Vickie Brockelman
As Thanksgiving approaches I reflect on the many  family gatherings and the joy of togetherness.

I am most thankful for the blessing of my children who are healthy and happy.  For the love of family and friends.  I  am thankful to my associates at CREyourway  who are the hardest working Realtors in Monroe County.  In this time of economic  challenges they have proven that  caring about their clients and working with them with integrity  and hard work is what it is all about.

To all our of Clients who have entrusted us with their real estate needs, I say thank-you and have a most Joyous Thanksgiving.

Bobbie Smith
I am Thankful for my children.  I remember how dull and boring my life was without them.  I am Thankful for all the fun times we have had together and all the wonderful memories they have put into my life.  I am thankful that all my closest family and friends are still alive and well.  I am Thankful for my cocker spaniel, Niki.  He just loves me so unconditionally, is always there, and just lives for those moments when I talk to him and pet him and take him outside to play.  He bringsme hours of pleasure. I am thankful for so many things, I just cannot list them all.

Karen Wagner
I’m thankful for having such a wonderful area like the Poconos to live in, surrounded by beauty, adventure, fun, and inspiration.  And I’m thankful for the opportunity to help others find homes here so they can secure this fantastic lifestyle for themselves and their families.

Joan Milnamow
I am thankful that all my family are healthy and that we will all be together this Thanksgiving.  We are all so lucky to be living in this land of abundance and freedom. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Connie Foland
For mine and my families continued good health,  I am also thankful that I am working with such a great group of people.  Also,I am thankful that in these hard economic times that I am still able to market and sell homes and make a living and work in the beauty of the Poconos.

Sue McShane
On this Thanksgiving Day:

I am thankful for having enough chairs to seat everyone for Thanksgiving Dinner.
I am thankful for my family and friends and my mother who makes the pies.
I am thankful for my brother who knows how to carve a turkey and my puppy that makes us smile.
I am thankful for the helping hands and the thoughtfulness within.
I am thankful for a guy who knows how to pitch in.
I am thankful for a child with a kind and gentle heart and to have a home that we can all gather in.
The cooking is long, the feast is too short, the conversations are such fun, and then the day runs its course.
It’s at this time when I remember one more thing that I am thankful for…my dishwasher!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jeff Peterson
I am thankful for God blessing me with my 2 wonderful children, to be able to maintain my sense of humor through a very challenging year and thankful to be thankful for so many more things.

Clarice Penna
I ‘am thankful for so many things but here are the most important:

Freedom – that’s not controlled by anyone else.
Family – my immediate family and an extended family that I’m so lucky and blessed to have in my life.
Close Friends – amazing human beings who have stood by me in the good times but more importantly the bad times too.

On my lighter side: I know this may sound jerky but I’m thankful I wasn’t born a turkey!!

For all these things I am thankful, on this Thanksgiving Day and every other day of the year too!

Quotes of the famous…

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare.  They are consumed in twelve minutes.  Half-times take twelve minutes.  This is not coincidence.  ~Erma Bombeck

Why is Thanksgiving celebrated when it is?

Answer:

The original harvest celebration of the Pilgrims happened in the pilgramsautumn of 1621 to celebrate the colony’s first successful year. President George Washington proclaimed the first national day of thanksgiving in 1789, but it was president Abraham Lincoln who officially declared the last Thursday in November Thanksgiving, beginning in 1863. It was during the Civil War, and Lincoln’s proclamation advised people to make this holiday a special time for family, religion, and community. Much later, President Franklin Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the third Thursday of November to create a longer Christmas shopping season. But in 1941, Congress made Thanksgiving fall on the fourth Thursday in November, and it’s been that way ever since!
